Frances Newton Scheduled For Execution
Newton's attorneys requested a 30-day stay from Gov. Rick Perry, who granted Newton a 120-day stay in December, after the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals refused Monday to stop the execution and the Texas Board of Appeals voted 7-0 not to recommend that her sentence be commuted to life in prison.
Newton was sentenced to death in 1988 for murdering her 21-month-old daughter, Farrah Elaine Newton, at the same time she also killed her husband, Adrian Newton, and her 7-year-old son, Alton Newton.
Prosecutors say she killed her family to collect life insurance.
