Idaho Children Abducted, Repeatedly Molested
According to court papers released yesterday, the eight-year-old girl told investigators a horrid story of the past six weeks since three members of her family were killed May 16 in their Idaho home.
Joseph Edward Duncan III, 42, of Fargo, North Dakota, was charged Tuesday with kidnapping with the intent of committing sexual acts or causing serious injury. More charges may be forth-coming. He is being held without bail.
Duncan was arrested early Sunday morning after he was spotted at a restaurant near Coeur D'Alene with Shasta Groene, who had been missing since May 16. Evidence found in Duncan's vehicle lead investigators to a National Park campground where they discovered "human remains" that could be those of nine-year-old Dylan Groene, Shasta's brother.
Facing the Death Penalty
According to the court papers, Duncan intent in kidnapping the children was to "rape, seriously injure or commit a lewd and lascivious act on a child under 16 years old." In Idaho, conviction could carry the death penalty or life in prison.
The children's mother, her boyfriend and an older brother were tied up and brutally beaten to death after a family barbecue May 15. So far, no murder charges have been filed in the case.
