Serial Killer Karla Homolka Released from Prison

Monday July 4, 2005
Serial child killer Karla Homolka was released from prison today after serving only 12 years for the rapes and murders of three teenage girls, including her younger sister -- who she offered to her husband as a gift.

Although the release of Homolka from prison was confirmed by prison authorities, Homolka was not seen leaving the facility by new media at watch on the road outside of the prison.

Her attorneys attempted to ban the media from reporting her location after her release because of threats Homolka has received. Her lawyers said she was in a "state of terror" of being released.

"She is paralyzed with fear, completely panicked," one of her attorneys, Christian Lachance, said. "When I saw her she was in a state of terror, almost in a trance. She cannot conceive of what her life will be like outside."

Homolka received a 12-year sentence in a plea deal to testify against her husband, Paul Bernardo. Prosecutors agreed to the deal before they were aware of video tapes of the crimes which showed Homolka as a willing, eager participant.

Bernardo is serving a life sentence.

No puedo creer que ella en ese momento hubiese estado tetrificada. No solo por la muerte de las otras chicas sino por su hermana. Y ella esta asustada por lo que va a ser de su vida. Como los americanos dicen Give me a break!!!! Sociopata, egocentrica. Es increible.

she gets way with murder because she is a female. she should be in prison for life or recieve the death sentence. Canada has criminals working as judges and in there justice system. It is the only possible explanation, for letting a serial killer walk free after only 12 years. Canadian justice is a haven for would be female killers

I’ve seen the documentary at discovery, then a bought the movie and a book about her… I believe he made her do everything he wanted because of her personality, and she was weak enought do do whatever he wanted, in the beggining she did because she was afraid… but then, I believe she got in the game and started to like the terrible thing he did. Unfornunatelly she’s free!!

She deserves life, I don’t care if she helped to get her husband get caught, she deserves life, she’s getting a way with murder. She’s a sick person and shouldn’t be set free, what makes you think she won’t do it again, once sick in the head always sick in the head….that’s B.S.

People like this shouldn’t have the choice to make deals even if they help convict another person. Killing is a hanous crime that should be automatic life no matter what

She definitely deserves life. Getting away with violently assaulting and killing teenagers girls, INCLUDING her innocent sister? That’s absolutely disgusting. People like that don’t deserve to live freely.

No one really know’s the extreme’s that a person will go to when they are in real fear of their life from their spouse. It’s hard to say exactly what all you would do if you thought your husband would beat you, or kill you if you didn’t obey him. Leave her alone. Unless she reoffend’s then there is no reason for people to be threating her life, what does that make you? A want to be murder?

the deal the canadian govt. made stated that as long as she didnt directly participate in the murders she could have the deal………..apparently the video tapes show her holding the drug cloth over her sister’s face; therefore the deal should have been null and void
