DJ Detained in Natalee Holloway Case

Friday June 17, 2005
A fourth man has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of Natalee Holloway in Aruba, and another person has been brought in for questioning, according to news reports. It was not clear if the witness who was questioned last night is still in custody.

Police arrested Steven Croes, a 26-year-old friend of Joran Van Der Sloot, 17, who is still being detained in the case along with Deepak Kalpoe, 21, and Satish Kalpoe, 18. Croes was arrested at 6:30 a.m. Friday morning.

Typically, Aruban officials have not release any information concerning the arrest of Croes, not even releasing his name. News sources obtained the name of the suspect from independent sources.

According to his employer, Croes was contacted Thursday night and gave a voluntary statement to police. Croes knows one of the Kalpoe brothers from an Internet cafe where he works.

Croes works as a DJ at local clubs and on the "Tattoo" a party boat that offers nightly excursions off the Caribbean island.

Natalee Holloway disappeared May 30 hours before she was scheduled to return to Alabama with her senior class. She was last seen with Van Der Sloot and the Kalpoe brothers, who originally said they dropped her off at her hotel. There stories have changed since they were detained June 9.
