Six Bodies Found at Investigator's Home

Tuesday May 10, 2005
The bodies of three adults and three children under age 15 were found by police at the home of an investigator for the Riverside County district attorney's office in a rural section of the county.

The bodies are believed to be those of David McGowan, his wife, Karen, three of their children and David McGowan's mother. Although details were not released by authorities, the killings appeared to be the result of murder-suicide.

Sheriff deputies were sent to the residence after a 911 call around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday. No one spoke to the dispatcher on the call, but deputies were sent to the scene after the dispatcher heard a noise on the call. The sound is believed to be a gunshot.

According to press reports, David McGowan was found near the entrance of the house with a gun near his body. All of the other victims were found in their beds with gun shots to the head.

The McGowans have a fourth child, who is currently a member of the armed forces, reports said.
