Kobe Bryant to Settle Lawsuit

Tuesday March 1, 2005
ABC News is reporting that Kobe Bryant and the woman who accused him of sexual assault at a Colorado resort have agreed in principle to settle the civil lawsuit she brought against him and are working out the details of the agreement.

Quoting unnamed sources, ABC News says the details of the settlement are expected to be hammered out before the end of the week.

Speculation that a deal might be in the works surfaced last week when Bryant did not show up for a scheduled deposition in the civil case, signaling that the NBA basketball star might be ready to settle the case that go through the discovery phase of the lawsuit.

Criminal charges were dropped against Bryant when the accuser told prosecutors that she was not willing to testify against him in criminal court.
