Special Ed Students Arrested for 'Violent' Drawings

Thursday January 27, 2005
Two Florida special education students -- ages nine and 10 -- have been charged with felonies and taken away from school in handcuffs for drawing "violent" stick figures in class.

Police said the students drew primitive stick figure scenes on scrap paper that showed a 10-year-old classmate being stabbed and hung. They were arrested and charged with making a written threat to kill or harm another person, a felony, and suspended from school.

One of the drawings showed two boys stabbing another and the other drawing showed a boy being hung, with tears coming from his eyes (See pictures).

The boy who was "threatened" in the photos showed him to his teacher, who took them to the school dean. The dean called police and they contacted the State Attorney's Office before going to the school a making the arrests.
