Jurors: Peterson Deserves to Die

Tuesday December 14, 2004
Jurors in the Scott Peterson murder trial said their was no single piece of evidence that convinced them that Peterson killed his pregnant wife and unborn child, but one juror said if their bodies had been found anywhere else but the San Francisco Bay "we would not be here today."

Jurors also said Peterson's apparent lack of any emotion during the trial also played a role in their decision. "He lost his wife and his child - it didn't seem to faze him," said juror foreman Steve Cardosi. "And while that was going on ... he is romancing a girlfriend. That doesn't make sense to me. At all."

Judge Alfred A. Delucchi will formally sentence Peterson on Feb. 25. The judge does have the option of not accepting the jury's recommendation and reducing the sentence to life, but it is unlikely that he will do so.
