Peterson Jury Foreman Removed by Judge

Wednesday November 10, 2004
Over defense objections, Judge Alfred A. Delucchi removed the foreman of the jury in the Scott Peterson trial today, less than 24 hours after another jury was removed apparently for doing independent research into the case.

The judge did not give a reason why he removed juror No. 5, a man who has both medical and law degrees, and was elected by the jurors as their first foreman. He was replaced with a male alternate juror.

The jury elected juror No. 6 at its new foreman. He is a firefighter and paramedic who according to media reports seemed uninterested in the proceedings during some of the trial. Some observers said he rolled his eyes during the playing of tape-recorded conversations between Scott Peterson and Amber Frey and seemed bored during her testimony.

Some reports said the jury elected the new foreman before the former foreman was dismissed by the judge.
