Jackson's attorneys had argued that District Attorney Tom Sneddon had become "blinded by zeal" and should be removed from the case. Jackson's lead attorney Thomas Mesereau, Jr. accused Sneddon of losing touch with reality, encouraging witnesses to lie and becoming obsessed with the Jackson case.
The judge ruled that he saw "no disabling conflict" and refused the request.
Court observers said they did not expect the judge to approve the request and believed it was an effort to cast doubt on the charges against Jackson and to set up a possible appeal if he is convicted.
