Rifle Used to Kill Camp Counselors
The Sonoma County Sheriff's Department said ballistic evidence from the scene indicated "a high probability" that a .45 caliber rifle was used to kill Jason Allen and Lindsay Cutshall, but they stopped short of discussing specifics.
Sgt. Steve Freitas told reporters authorities believe the counselors were shot sometime between 8 p.m. on Saturday Aug. 14 and before sunrise on Monday Aug. 16. Investigators would not say how many times the couple was shot.
Freitas revealed that dozens of .45 caliber rifles have been already been tested at the crime lab. He said many of the gun owners cooperated by surrendering their guns for testing.
Investigators are also seeking information about a vehicle that may have been involved in the case.
