Preliminary Hearing Set Dec. 16 for Phil Spector

Wednesday September 15, 2004
Legendary rock and roll music director Phil Spector requested and received a delay in his preliminary hearing on charges related to the shooting death of actress Lana Clarkson at his home in February. The preliminary hearing is scheduled December 16.

The delay was requested by Spector's new attorney, Bruce Cutler. The Los Angeles District Attorney's office did not oppose the delay.

"I think Bruce Cutler is a genius. There was no crime committed and I'm sure he'll bring forth evidence that the district attorney has been hiding," Phil Spector told reporters.

"This case never should have been brought," Cutler said. "Our aim is not only to win this case but also to win it in the court of public opinion."
