Laci Peterson Look-Alike Neighbor Testifies

Thursday September 9, 2004
Prosecutors in the Scott Peterson double-murder trial presented several witnesses to the jury who were pregnant at the time of Laci Peterson's disappearance and regularly walked in the neighborhood, including one woman whose photo at the time looked so much like Laci it drew audible gasps throughout the courtroom, reporters said.

Prosecutors were trying to explain why several people reported sightings of Laci Peterson after they believe she was killed. At least four brown-haired women in the neighborhood were pregnant at the time of Laci's disappearance and walked for exercise, testimony showed.

Jordan Visola-Prescott, who is no longer pregnant and has shorter hair, testified that she was pregnant with twins at the time and regularly walked her dog through the neighborhood. On the witness stand she looked nothing like Laci, but a life-size photo taken during her pregnancy when she had longer hair looked remarkably like Laci Peterson, observers said.

But Visola-Prescott testified that she was certain that she did not walk her dog on the days after Laci disappeared, and defense attorney Mark Geragos pointed out that her black-and-white dog looked nothing like the Peterson's golden retriever.

In other testimony, prosecutors presented DNA evidence showing that a hair found in Peterson's boat did not belong to him, but could have belonged to Laci.
